If Outlook is installed and not running, go to the Control Panel in My Computer, and double-click on the Mail icon. |
Otherwise, with Outlook running, go to Tools > Accounts on the Menu Bar
Then select the Mail tab and choose Add Mail...
Then you will be prompted for your name as it will show on your mail. |
Then enter your e-mail address, followed by the appropriate server information:
Incoming mail AND outgoing mail are both:
mail.iveracity.com
Be sure that you have POP3 server selected -- others will not work.
Then enter your username and password (this is almost always
the same as the username and password you use to connect).
(The box at the bottom for SPA should NOT be checked.) |
Now you're almost done -- these are the initial settings, now
we'll "tweak" then for the best performance. Hit finish. |
Go back and choose the settings as you did earlier and for the mail account you just created, highlight the account and then
choose the Properties button.
Mail Account: mail.iveracity.com
Outlook you can have several e-mail accounts available for use with your program. Also verify your name and your e-mail address. It is very important that your e-mail address
is shown correctly here. (The reply address can be left blank since it would be the same as your e-mail address).
Your E-mail Address should be somthing like:
john.doe@iveracity.com
User Name:
john.doe
On the Servers tab, verify the settings are correct--
the bottom two boxes (Login using Secure must be unchecked)
IMPORTANT: The “My server requires authentication” box MUST BE CHECKED |
On the Advanced tab, your settings should be like these shown here.
Please note that the bottom settings for Delivery can be customized, but require that you carefully consider their use. You don’t need to put a check box in delivery options and all the emails will be downloaded to your computer.
If you choose the options I have selected they it will save a copy on the email server until you delete it from “Deleted Items” kind of like emptying the trash but only in Outlook. This is also helpful if you want to have web access to the emails in your inbox. |
